Taste: We do this a lot. It was the first of the soups/etc that I started making off allrecipes, and we love it. So does everyone else ;) It tastes … well … Liked baked potatoes. With cheese. Mmmmm

Preparation: OK, I’ll admit. Preppign this one is a bitch. Original recipe called for piercing the potatoes and putting them in the microwave a few at a time for 5 minutes. Tha never worked. PArtially b/c I don’t have the patience to do 5lbs of potatoes 2 or 3 potatoes at a time. Partially b/c I think it just didn’t work. Usually ended up putting 6 or 7 (about 2-3 lbs) in at once and punching for 15 minutes and they’d be OK. Still a little stiff, but manageable. and hot as hell. Then cut them and scoop them.

Now I put them all in the oven for about an hour. all 5lbs. Takes longer, but is less involving, so i can work on other things or wathc a show or something. Shred cheese, prep base, etc.

Recipe: Good. Changed the bit about how to prep the potatoes. Changed a few other things, tossed the bacon and the chives (can’ eat bacon, chives weren’t realyl adding anything) [actually, i liked it better this last time, w/o chives]

Cost: 5lbs potatoes. Milk, block-o-cheese, sour cream. Can be done for 5$, but closer to 10$ if you’re doing it spur of the moment rather than normalyl stocking the bits anyway. Still, damned popular (always runs out first), good, and with the exception of lactose intolerants, shouldnt’ be anything to bother anyone :) And if you’re lactose intolerant, it’ll kill ya. Like my other soups ;)
